RCB and MI engaged in a fierce bidding battle for Dhir, which escalated to ₹1 crore. The bid was increased to ₹2 crore after RCB withdrew and DC joined in. After that, DC pulled, and RR followed suit. MI remained true to their bid and chose to withdraw when it had reached 2.60 crore. Dhir was also targeted by PBKS, but RR persisted. It appeared that Dhir would join them when RR increased it to ₹3.40 crore, but MI chose to use their RTM option and obtained him for ₹5.25 crore instead.

In 2024, Dhir played for Mumbai and was bought at the mini-auction at ₹20 lakhs. At his first season, he amassed 140 runs at an average of 23.33, a half-century, and a strike rate of 177.21.

In the meantime, Minz became the first Tribal player to participate in the IPL after being acquired by GT last season. However, he had an accident shortly before the tournament started, so he was unable to make his debut.
