It all began when Amit Shah said in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday that Congress lawmakers would have been able to go to heaven if they had screamed the name of God instead of chanting Ambedkar’s name as is “fashionable.”

“Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar!” “Abhi ek fashion ho gaya hai.” “It has become fashionable to say Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar,” as in the phrase “Bhagwan ka lete to saat janmon tak swarg mil jata.” They would have received a spot in heaven if they had invoked God’s name so frequently,” Shah had stated.

Amit Shah has previously stated that while the BJP is pleased that the Congress is using Ambedkar’s name, the party need to express its true feelings for him as well.

Political controversy with Shah’s Ambedkar statements

Amit Shah’s comments sparked a heated political dispute, with the Congress and other opposition parties calling for his resignation for what they described as an insult to the Constitution’s creator.

The chaos in Parliament also spread to Delhi’s streets and to areas as far away as Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, and Bihar. “Amit Shah maafi mango, Amit Shah sharm karo” was the slogan used by hundreds of AAP supporters who gathered outside the BJP office in Delhi under the leadership of AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal.

In the event that Shah does not resign on his own, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should fire the home minister immediately if he had any regard for Ambedkar.

PM Modi’s remarks

Prime Minister Modi spoke on Wednesday, amid harsh opposition criticism. He defended Amit Shah. Modi stated that the Congress and its rotten ecosystem are gravely mistaken. He said they believe their malicious lies can hide their misdeeds of several years. Modi specifically mentioned their insult towards Dr. Ambedkar

“The people of India have witnessed repeatedly how one Party, under the leadership of one dynasty, has used every conceivable shady tactic to destroy Dr. Ambedkar’s legacy and degrade the SC/ST communities,” Prime Minister Modi wrote in a post on X.

Amit Shah also charged that Congress was “anti-BR Ambedkar and anti-Constitution” during a news conference on Wednesday.

In response to Kharge’s request for his resignation, he also stated that it would not have any bearing on the future of the Congress party. In addition, Shah asserted that even if he resigned, the Congress party would continue to be in opposition for the following 15 years.

Ambedkar’s Grandson

BR Ambedkar’s grandson Prakash Ambedkar says that these words of Amit Shah show the old mentality of BJP and got offended.

He asserted that the violence resulted from a disagreement between two Maratha leaders and declared the establishment of a fact-finding committee to identify the offenders.

He claimed that political parties would cease to exist if bills introducing a system for simultaneous polling in the Lok Sabha were passed.

There are just five or six days left for the Congress to make a firm decision regarding the measures. Political parties will cease to exist if they fail to take a stance and the measures are passed. The NCP’s stance under Sharad Pawar will be vital, Prakash Ambedkar continued.
