The series has been directed and written by Noah Hawley, a renowned American screenwriter, director and producer who is known to write many fantastic hits in his career. The series is based on the Alien Franchise ( a famous series of movies, books and various other media where humans encounter deadly alien creatures called Xenomorphs).

The series is a prequel of the movie released in 1979 called Alien, where a spaceship crew discovers the terrifying creatures and has to fight for their survival. The TV series is set on a timeline of two years before the events of 1979 Alien. A prequel is a story that tells the backstory of an already existing story. It explains what happened earlier.
