With a focus on in-depth examination of Ding’s games, Gukesh has been meticulous in his preparation for the forthcoming match. The match is expected to be a battle of tactics, styles, and mental toughness. In addition to being a chess match, the impending conflict is also about handling pressure as Gukesh attempts to outsmart Ding with his cunning scheme.
The young Indian chess phenom, Gukesh Dommaraju, is about to make history. The 18-year-old prodigy will compete in the next FIDE World Chess Championship versus Ding Liren of China. Two Asians vie for the coveted title for the first time in 138 years.
History of Head-to-Head
Ding has the advantage in their prior classical meetings, having won two of them, while the third game finished in a tie.
Chess – Gukesh’s Strategic Preparations
Gukesh’s openers, which have been a weakness of his, are one area he will try to improve. However, Gukesh will undoubtedly hone his opening move under the direction of GM Grzegorz Gajewski, his seasoned second. Gukesh may be able to overcome Ding’s profound strategic knowledge thanks to his ability to play dynamic situations and his bold attitude towards taking measured risks.
Yesterday, before the opening ceremony kicked off, we asked @DGukesh what his impressions of Singapore are now, 9 years after winning his first international tournament here, and whether he thinks history will repeat itself 🤔
We also asked him how he feels!

Chess – Techno Twist
Both players actively engaged in the colour drawing that gave Gukesh the white pieces in the first game, which was a novel and technologically advanced method. He can take charge and establish the tone for the game thanks to this advantage.
Chess – Ding Liren’s Challenge
However, Ding Liren is accustomed to intense matches and is not a pushover. During the competition, the Chinese master may be put to the test by Gukesh’s erratic and combative nature.
The opening match is scheduled for Monday, November 25. This fight, which may be a generational contest between a youthful challenger and an established world champion, will be closely watched.
Gukesh discussed his impressions of Ding Liren’s strategy for the game, emphasising his versatility and multifaceted abilities. Gukesh stated in an interview: “I believe Ding is rather universal. At this stage, practically every player at the highest level must be universal. Regarding World Champion Ding Liren’s style of play and his strategy for their next match, Gukesh stated, “There are slight variations among all the players, and I’m doing everything in my power to study and take advantage of them.”
Gukesh on Preparing for Challenge
With a focus on in-depth examination of Ding’s games, Gukesh has been meticulous in his preparation for the forthcoming match. Gukesh was tactful but perceptive when questioned about Ding Liren and if he had any particular tactics in mind for the game. “There’s little doubt that the contest will be intriguing. There will be many thrilling games, and we are both good players. “I hope all chess enthusiasts have a wonderful time,” he remarked. “As for my team, I can say Gajewski will be my trainer for the match, but beyond that, I can’t reveal much.” The impending conflict is about more than simply a game of chess; it’s about handling pressure.
“Playing at such a high level for India is always an honour, and I love the experience. I believe that my experience has largely shaped how I respond to pressure. “I have played in a lot of high-pressure situations, but obviously not the World Championship,” he said. “But I’m looking forward to the new experience.”
Ding can oppose a variety of strategies thanks to his versatile and global approach, but Gukesh’s bold and aggressive gameplay can break his flow. The player who can successfully modify throughout the game and combine preparedness and ingenuity will win.
