Launch of Ola Gig and Gig Plus with a detachable battery, deliveries will start in April 2025. The commercially viable Gig and Gig Plus electric scooters have been introduced by Ola Electric. The former’s costs begin at Rs. 40,000, while the latter’s begin at Rs. 50,000.
Both scooters have detachable batteries and are designed to be sturdy workhorses. The Gig, which is the less expensive of the two, has a single 1.5kWh battery with a stated range of 112 kilometres. The scooter’s 250W motor, which is powered by this battery, can reach a top speed of 25 kmph. In contrast, the Gig Plus can be powered by two 1.5kWh batteries that work together to provide a stated range of about 157km. Additionally, it has a larger 1.5kW motor with a top speed of 45 kmph. These scooters are said to be 93.4% more cost-effective in terms of daily operating expenses when compared to the average operating cost of an ICE scooter.
With only a few body panels and a baggage rack up front and back, the Gig appears to be fully stripped down. With extra body covering up front and brighter hues, the Gig Plus, on the other hand, is marginally more appealing. Both versions had twin springs, telescopic forks, and 12-inch wheels on both ends. Drums at both ends manage braking.
