Mahindra BE 6e – Electric Car Launch, Starting from 18.90 lakh

Mahindra has finally unveiled its two new electric vehicles, the BE 6e and the XEV 9e, after a protracted wait. Of them, the Mahindra BE 6e is the first model under the automaker’s recently launched “BE” sub-brand, which is exclusively electric. The BE 6e distinguishes itself from other EVs with its aggressive exterior and interior design. Using ten pictures, let’s examine the BE 6e in more detail:

The front of the Mahindra BE 6e is forceful and angular, with prominent creases and slashes. The bonnet features an illuminated “BE” logo and a useful scoop for air intake. It features C-shaped LED DRLs encircling horizontally stacked LED projector headlights. Like most EVs, the grille is blanked out.

The area between the headlights and DRLs is painted the body colour, while the rest of the bumper is black. The front look is completed with LED fog lamps, a silver skid plate, and front parking sensors.

The gloss black cladding that runs the length of the SUV and over the wheel arches highlights the muscular lines that continue throughout the Mahindra BE 6e’s exterior. The “INGLO” badge is displayed on the lower portion of the back door of this cladding, which has sharp edges.

The front doors have flush-fitting handles, while the rear door handles blend in perfectly with the C-pillar. Additionally, the outer rearview mirrors and the A- and B-pillars are finished in black, creating contrasting components. The SUV has 19-inch alloy wheels with aerodynamic designs, but Mahindra is also providing 20-inch wheels as an add-on.

Similar to the front LED DRLs, the Mahindra BE 6e has C-shaped LED tail lights. Only Mahindra EVs have the “Infinite Possibilities” badge on the tailboard. A bootlip spoiler protrudes from the boot, while another spoiler is positioned above the rear windscreen.

The rear parking sensors are located in the black rear bumper, which also has two silver skid plates with built-in reflectors.

There is a 455-liter boot space available with the Mahindra BE 6e. Additionally, it has a 45-liter storage space beneath the bonnet, called a frunk (front trunk).

The Mahindra BE 6e’s interior is given a dual-tone design. It has a two-spoke steering wheel with the illuminated “BE” emblem on it. A heads-up display based on augmented reality (AR) is in addition to two free-standing screens behind the wheel that are housed beneath a single glass panel.

The Mahindra BE 6e has a cockpit-like appearance thanks to its curved trim that runs from the dashboard to the centre console. This gloss-black console separates the cabin into two pieces and contains the driver’s air conditioning vents.

All passengers can adjust the headrests on the Mahindra BE 6e’s seats, which are upholstered in a combination of leatherette and fabric. The interior door knobs are specially made as fabric pull-type tabs, and the doors are completed in the cabin’s theme.

Among the many amenities of the Mahindra BE 6e are a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, dual-zone air conditioning, and a panoramic glass roof with coloured lights. A 360-degree camera, park assist, seven airbags (six as standard), and Level 2 ADAS with functions like driver fatigue detection and autonomous emergency braking are all included for safety.

Fast charging is supported by the Mahindra BE 6e; the 59 kWh battery can handle 140 kW DC fast charging, while the bigger battery pack can enable 175 kW DC fast charging. In 20 minutes, each battery may be charged from 20 to 80 percent. With the BE 6e, Mahindra will also provide two AC charger options: 7.3 kWh and 11.2 kWh.

How much the entry-level The 59 kWh battery pack version of the Mahindra BE 6e costs Rs 18.90 lakh (introductory ex-showroom, pan-India). At the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo, the costs of the additional versions are anticipated to be revealed.

The Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV, the soon-to-be Maruti eVX, and the Hyundai Creta EV will all be competitors of the BE 6e.
