Dua Lipa’s reference to Shah Rukh Khan’s well-known song Woh Ladki Jo may please fans of the actor, but singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya is not pleased.
When Dua Lipa performed in Mumbai recently, she shocked everyone by referencing the popular Levitating x Woh Ladki Jo mashup, which was first created by DJ Ruchir Kulkarni. Fans of Shah Rukh Khan were unable to remain composed despite the videos’ widespread social media success. In an interview with News18, however, vocalist Abhijeet Bhattacharya appeared to waver between wanting credit for the job and not caring.
Abhijeet Bhattacharya on Dua Lipa’s performance
During her performance, Dua should have given credit to the song’s team, according to Abhijeet, who described the song from the 1999 movie Baadshah, which was composed by Anu Malik, as the “finest.” “It is the best song of his life,” he declared. It should have been spoken by Dua Lipa (credited). She writes songs, too. This song was written by Anu Malik, Javed Akhtar, and me.
Even though he “doesn’t care” who Dua is, the singer went on to say that the song was “popular before” her performance. To tell the truth, I don’t give a damn about Dua Lipa’s identity. Whether she chose to use my name or not, I was inundated with calls when she went on stage. It was heard. Her pronunciation is incorrect, therefore she is unable to even name somebody. Does it make a difference?
Abhijeet’s son
After Dua’s performance went viral, Abhijeet’s son Jay Bhattacharya also posted a lengthy message on Instagram, condemning the Dance the Night singer for failing to give credit to his father and Anu. However, Abhijeet told the outlet that as long as “people are listening to the song,” he “does not care” if he receives credit. In support of his son, he said that there was no “intention” other than his desire for recognition.
“Unfortunately, we live in a country where not a single news outlet or Instagram page has mentioned the voice and the artists of this song,” Jay wrote in part of his Instagram statement. Why has this nation’s focus always been on actors?
Despite this, Abhijeet shared his own rendition of Dua’s performance on Instagram, including both her performance and a live performance of the song at one of his shows.
