Before reportedly shooting a teacher and a teenage student at Abundant Life Christian School and wounding six others, the suspect passed away.
On Monday morning, December 16, a 15-year-old girl was identified by police as the culprit in a shooting at a Christian school in Madison, Wisconsin. According to the New York Post, the student allegedly shot and killed a teacher and a teenage student while injuring six other individuals, including two pupils who had “life-threatening” injuries. Three pupils and a teacher were among the other four injured; two of them have already been discharged from the hospital.
Authorities and law enforcement sources informed The Associated Press that the teen shooter, who they said was present at the school before to the shooting, was also discovered dead at the site. One of the two fatalities passed away en route to the hospital, while the other was already dead when the authorities arrived.
The shooting at Abundant Life Christian School, a K–12 institution with over 400 kids, happened just before 11 a.m. local time. According to Madison Police Chief Shon Barnes, after receiving a 911 call regarding an active shooter, officers arrived at the school in three minutes.
Sad Day for Madison and Country – Wisconsin School Shooting
Regarding the incident, he stated, “We know it was confined to one space.” “I’m not sure if it was in a hallway or a classroom.”
Barnes went on to say that although the reason for the shooting is still unknown, the suspect’s family is “cooperating” with authorities. There were no overt indications that “suggested violence would occur” at the school, he continued. He stated, “We are unaware that the shooter had any previous interactions with law enforcement.” Several of you have questioned me about the “why” behind this. What caused this to occur? Why was it done? I’m not sure.
According to Barnes, the school seemed to be separated into age-based parts. He stated, “There is no proof that anyone was hurt who wasn’t in the age group,” suggesting that the victims may have been teenagers or teenagers and their teachers.
“Today is a very depressing day for Madison and our nation,” Barnes stated. “I think that day will be ingrained in our collective consciousness for a very, very long time.”
According to the police, they didn’t shoot the gunman. “We are aware that this occurred in the middle of a school day, so we will have to deal with additional injuries for a very long time,” Barnes stated. “As a community, we’re going to do everything we can to heal those injuries as well.”
After the catastrophe, parents have been reunited with their children. The incident “rocked our school community,” according to Barbara Wiers, a school spokeswoman. She also mentioned that there are no metal detectors or school resource officers at the school. But, she added, there are additional security measures in place, such as visual screening.
The First Photos of Natalie Samantha Rupnow
The First Photos of the 15 year old suspect Natalie Samantha Rupnow have been found, scroll down for images. She is at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison, Wisconsin, have surfaced online after the incident. The shooting killed two, a student and teacher, six others were injured.
In her Father’s Facebook page , Rupnow a student of K-12 school can be seen at a shooting range in a black T-shirt of some German band named KMFDM, formed in 1984. The band’s name is Lein Mehrheit Fur Die Mitleid, in English it means “No Pity for the Majority”. This is popular for its aggressive blend of heavy metal, punk, and electronic music.
A Rare Occurrence
According to experts, the sheer volume of school shootings since Columbine makes it all but certain that some will be committed by female students. However, it is still uncommon.
“Historically, there are factors that have led men to commit these shootings,” prof. Jonathan Metzl, a gun violence expert and professor of sociology and psychiatry at Vanderbilt University, stated.

Guns are sometimes simpler to obtain for men, and many shooters take inspiration from past assailants, the majority of whom were men. Mass shootings are also seen by some sociologists as “reflective of a pathology of toxic masculinity,” according to Metzl. Furthermore, it goes without saying that men are more prone than women to conduct violent crimes in general, not only school shootings.
Bullying, social networking, and isolation are all factors that are common to school shootings and are not unique to boys. Elizabeth Dowdell, a nursing professor at Villanova University who has researched school shootings, says data indicates a rise in violence and aggression among teenage girls in recent years.
Just before 11 a.m. on Monday, the shooting occurred in a study hall classroom at the tiny, private school. According to officials, a number of additional victims sustained less severe injuries on Tuesday, while two kids were still in critical condition.
Rupnow allegedly used a firearm, but the police have not disclosed how he got it. The parents of a school shooter in Michigan were convicted earlier this year for their part in giving their son access to the firearm he used to kill.
Wisconsin’s Official Statement
At the news conference on Tuesday, Wisconsin officials stated that it was too soon to determine whether Rupnow’s parents could face legal repercussions. According to Police Chief Barnes, such charges did not seem justified at this time.
According to the K-12 School Shooting Database, which opens a separate browser, there have been 322 school shootings this year, making them almost everyday in the US. Only the 349 from the previous year surpassed that figure, making it the second-highest total of any year since 1966.
According to polls, Americans want more stringent background checks for gun purchases, temporary restrictions on those in emergency situations, and safer storage regulations for firearms in households with children. However, political leaders have mostly refrained from taking action, pointing to the American constitution’s guarantee of gun ownership.
At the news conference on Tuesday, Melissa Agard, the executive of Dane County, stated her desire for tougher gun regulations in Wisconsin, including “Red Flag” rules that might lead to the confiscation of firearms from those who pose a risk and regulations mandating that firearms be stored safely in households.
“Let us remember this fact: gun violence is the No. 1 killer of children in this country,” Agard stated. “That’s a legacy we cannot accept.”
