Jitiya Vrat Katha 2024

O Sut! was once asked by the sages of Naimisharanya regarding the well-being of the world. Tell us about the long life that people’s children will have in the dark Kaliyug. Sutji said: Several grieving women had talked among themselves at the beginning of Kaliyug and as Dwapar was coming to a conclusion. In this Kaliyug, will the sons pass away while the mother survives? They went to Gautamji with their questions after they were unable to reach a consensus among themselves. Gautamji was sitting with Anand when they arrived at him. He stepped in front of him, saluted, and lowered his head. The women then questioned, “O Lord!” In this Kaliyug, how will the people’s sons live long?

Please let me know if there is a fast or penance for this. Gautamji said, “I will tell you the same thing which I have already heard,” after listening to them in this manner. Gautamji stated: “O Viprendra!” Draupadi, overcome with grief over her son, went to the famous Brahmin Dhoumya with her friends after the Mahabharata battle finished. All the Pandavas were devastated to see their sons slaughtered by Drona’s son Ashwatthama. Please specify the steps that can be taken to guarantee the lifetime of children. Dhoumya said: “There once was a king in Satyayug by the name of Jimutvaahan. He was a man of equal vision, and he spoke and did the truth.”

He once moved in with his wife to live at his in-laws’ residence. At midnight one day, a grieving mother broke down in tears, realising she would never see her son again after he had passed away. “Unfortunately, my son is dying in front of me, an old mother,” she sobbed. King Jimutvaahan felt as though his heart had been shattered at hearing her cry.

‘How did your son die?’ he asked the widow right away. “Garuda comes every day and eats the boys of the village,” the elderly mother remarked.

The gracious monarch said, “Mother! You stop crying now. “Sit contentedly; I’ll work to save your kid.” The king then proceeded to the spot where Garuda had been eating meat every day. Garuda attacked him and began consuming meat at the same moment. The king instantly turned to face Garuda with his right side after the incredibly intelligent bird devoured his left side. When Garudaji saw this, he said, “Are you a god? You are who you are? It appears that you are not human. Tell me about your birth and family, please.

“O bird king,” cried the king, whose soul was filled with agony. You are free to consume as much of my meat as you like; it is pointless to raise such questions. When Garuda heard this, he halted and respectfully began enquiring about the king’s origins and ancestry.

“My father’s name is Shalivahan, and my mother’s name is Shaivya,” declared the monarch. My name is Jimutvahan, and I was born in Suryavansh. Garuda remarked, “O great one, ask for any boon that you desire,” upon witnessing the king’s benevolence. “O bird king,” declared the monarch. If you are bestowing a blessing upon me, grant that every living thing you have consumed thus far will resurrect.

Dhoumya related that the bird king Garuda himself went to Naglok for Amrit after bestowing the blessing upon the king. He brought Amrit from there and sprinkled it on those deceased people’s bones. All those who had previously been consumed by Garuda were brought back to life by performing this.

Numerous issues faced by the populace were resolved as a result of the king’s sacrifice and Garuda’s kindness. By that point, the king’s body had doubled in beauty. Garuda once more declared, “I will give one more boon for the welfare of the world,” upon witnessing the king’s kindness. In the absence of Ashwin Krishna Saptami, today is the auspicious Ashtami Tithi. You have given the people in this place life today. Oh boy! This day is currently known as Brahmabhaav.

In the sense of receiving Amrit, the same Durga who is worshipped in all three worlds but is known by different names because of the variations in her idol is referred to as Jivtputrika. Thus, on this Tithi, the good fortune of the women who will worship you by creating an idol of that Jivtputrika and Kush will multiply every day, and the dynasty will continue to flourish. Oh, abundant luck. It is not necessary to consider this issue at all.

Ah, King. Do not fast on Saptami Vidh Ashtami; instead, keep a fast on pure Ashtami and break it on Navami. Observe Ashtami devoid of Saptami and Udayatithi. The fruit will rot and the good fortune will undoubtedly disappear if this is not resolved. Garuda visited Vaikuntha Dham after bestowing such a gift upon Jimutvaahan, and the monarch and his spouse also went back to their city.

Draupadi hears Dhoumya say, “O Goddess! You are aware of this really uncommon speed, right? Children that follow this fast live long lives. Oh Deity! You will get the intended benefits if you keep this fast as well and worship Durgaji in the manner described above. After hearing Muniraj Dhoumya’s remarks, Draupadi became somewhat curious. She called the city’s women and observed this significant fast alongside them. Gautam stated: “Someone told her friend Jackal about this fast and its effects after learning about it.” After that, the individual sat on a peepal tree branch, and a jackal perched in the tree’s hole to monitor the fast.

Then, when sitting in a peepal tree with her companion, the same Chinhni told her friend the story she had heard from a distinguished Brahmin. When the jackal became hungry, she happened to come across a crematorium that was filled with dead bodies, having already heard part of the story. It was dawn when Chinhni stayed without eating or drinking while she consumed an abundance of meat in that location. She went to the cowshed in the morning and drank the milk from the cows. She broke her fast on the ninth day in this manner. Both of them passed away within a few days and were baptised in the home of a wealthy Ayodhya businessman.

By coincidence, Chinh was the younger and the jackal the eldest when they were born in the same home. They were both endowed with every lucky sign. Thus, in front of the Garhapatya fire, the older daughter married the King of Kashi, while the younger one married his minister. She became a doe-eyed queen as a result of the karma from her previous existence.

The minister’s wife, who remembered her previous existence, gave birth to eight boys who were as brilliant as the eight Vasus, and all of them survived, regardless of the child she carried to term. Envious of her sister’s sons’ survival, the king’s wife told her husband that the minister’s sons should be killed and sent to the same spot where her own sons had disappeared if she wanted to live. After learning of this, the king worked hard to have the minister’s sons killed. However, Jivtputrika’s virtue allowed the minister’s wife to save them.
