The 43-year-old film editor Nishad Yusuf, who was most recognised for his work on Thallumaala and Kanguva, passed away. His death is being investigated by the police.
In the early hours of Wednesday, October 30, film editor Nishad Yusuf was reportedly discovered dead at his Kochi residence. He was forty-three. According to Malayalam media sources cited by PTI, his body was discovered at around two in the morning in his Panampilly Nagar flat in Kochi. The police have not yet disclosed the cause of death. Police officials have not yet issued a statement, although investigations are still ongoing.
Nishad Yusuf’s Death Confirmed – FEFKA
The death was reported on the official Facebook page of the Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) Directors’ Union. “The film world will not be able to quickly accept the unexpected demise of Nishadh Yusuf, film editor, who played a major role in determining the contemporary future of the changing Malayalam cinema,” the film organisation stated in Malayalam with a picture of the renowned editor. The FEFKA Directors’ Union sends its condolences.
Despite reports in the local media that his death was probably a suicide, the authorities have not formally confirmed this. According to Matrubhoomi, the Kerala Police are looking into the death and haven’t ruled anything out.

In Tamil and Malayalam cinema, Nishad Yusuf was a well-known film editor. Among the well-known films he has contributed to are Adios Amigos, Saudi Vellakka, One, Unda, and Thallumaala. Last year, he signed his most well-known contract: the pan-Indian movie Kanguva, starring Suriya and Bobby Deol. On November 14, the movie is scheduled to open in cinemas.
According to FEFKA’s assessment, Yusuf was working on a few additional projects. He had been editing Bazooka, the next film starring Mohanlal and Mammotty. Alappuzha Gymkhana was in his cat as well.
Nishad, who is from Harippad, received the State Award for Best Editor in 2022 for his contributions to Thallumaala.
