Dehradun Car Accident – Six students were killed on Monday night after a speeding multi-utility vehicle (MUV), an Innova, collided with a container truck at Dehradun’s ONGC Chowk, turning a night out into a tragedy. The victims were named as Atul Agrawal (24), Rishabh Jain (24), Navya Goel (23), Kamakshi (20), and Guneet (19). All of them were Dehradun residents, with the exception of Kunal Kukreja (23), who was from Chamba, Himachal Pradesh.
According to The Times of India, the only survivor, 25-year-old Siddhesh Agrawal, who threw the party the group was coming from, is in stable condition at the hospital but is unable to recollect specifics of what happened.
Dehradun Police Statement
“As no charges can be filed posthumously, we are looking into legal alternatives since the MUV’s driver, who owned the vehicle, did not survive,” stated Inspector KC Bhatt of the Cantt police station.
According to preliminary research, speeding was the main factor, and the truck driver was not at fault, he said.
When the MUV, which was apparently a brand-new car without license plates, collided with the truck’s left rear side—a notorious blind spot—the collision happened. According to ToI, CCTV footage showed that the MUV had been travelling at a modest pace before suddenly accelerating close to the ONGC crossing in an apparent attempt to pass a luxury vehicle.
Spot Where Accident took place
The car was reduced to a mangled mess after the crash, which happened near the ONGC Chowk at around 1:30 am. According to news agency PTI, which cited circle officer (City) Neeraj Semwal, the six people perished instantly after the car crashed into the truck from behind.
Pushkar Singh Dhami, the chief minister, expressed sorrow at the accident’s death toll while visiting Rudraprayag and Uttarkashi.
It is heartbreaking to learn that six young people lost their lives in a car accident near Dehradun. I ask God to offer the deceased a seat at his holy feet and to give the grieving families the fortitude to endure the great suffering,” he stated.
New Video Surfaces
According to India Today, a recent video shows that the kids were reportedly drinking and having a good time just before their vehicle collided with a truck. Police claim that CCTV footage from the vicinity demonstrates the students’ fast driving.
HT.com was unable to independently confirm the video’s legitimacy.
A group of young men and women can be seen dancing, pouring drinks, and ingesting what looks to be alcohol in an earlier evening footage that India Today TV was able to secure. Whether alcohol had a role in the collision has been called into doubt by this film. According to the story, police have not yet verified this because autopsy findings are still pending.

Innova was recently bought
According to Money Control, Sunil Agarwal, a firecracker entrepreneur from Saharanpur, owned the Innova that was involved in the collision. He had purchased the car a few days prior during the Dhanteras holiday. It further stated that his son, Atul, was operating the car when the tragedy occurred and had driven to Dehradun with six companions.
According to reports, Atul’s friend requested a party because he recently purchased a new vehicle. On Monday evening, Atul threw a party at Siddhesh Agarwal’s Jakhan residence. After that, Atul and his companion went for a drive.
Narrow Escape for Restaurant owner
He barely averted a collision with the MUV earlier that evening at Pacific Mall, a restaurant owner told ToI. The vehicle was rushing in our direction on the wrong side. He stated, “I had to swerve quickly,” and that he told the police about the occurrence but that they did not take any immediate action.
