With a global total of ₹263 crore, the Tamil film Amaran, starring Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi, has achieved notable success. Its Netflix release has been delayed because of its outstanding box office performance.
Starring Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi, the Tamil hit Amaran is still making waves at the box office. It has become one of the year’s most popular Tamil films.
Within 14 days of its launch, Amaran has amassed ₹168.70 crore net across all languages. Telugu viewers gave ₹29.35 crore, while Tamil viewers contributed ₹135.85 crore. The movie’s enormous appeal was demonstrated by its successful opening week of ₹114.85 crore. According to Sacnilk, the film made ₹4.25 crore as of November 13.
The Rajkumar Periasamy-directed film was originally scheduled to be available for streaming on Netflix 28 days following its theatrical debut. However, Netflix has chosen to postpone the OTT release by one week because of its outstanding performance in the movie theatre. On December 5, the movie will now make its OTT platform debut.
This unusual action demonstrates the movie’s successful theatrical run and the demand it still has among viewers. In a post on X (previously Twitter), industry analyst Sreedhar Pillai highlighted the importance of this decision. He clarified that Amaran’s OTT premiere postponement is unheard of for a Tamil movie.
“Exclusive—Wow! #OTT streaming for #Amaran is delayed by one week! 28 days after its debut, the @Siva_Kartikeyan blockbuster was expected to be available for streaming. Netflix has extended the OTT launch by one week due to its incredible performance in cinemas! It’s the first time for a Tamil movie!” he wrote.
Amaran Worldwide Box Office Collection
The overseas market has brought in ₹73.75 crore for the film. The movie’s overall box office receipts globally now total ₹263 crore, with ₹189.25 crore coming from the local market.
A Tamil enthusiast from Texas attested to the enormous interest among viewers overseas. “I’m not shocked. The Indian community in the United States is swarming to cinemas. This film is excellent.
Amaran became Sivakarthikeyan’s “first million dollar film,” according to Pillai, who concurred.
