The first snowfall of the season fell on Saturday in Gulmarg, a renowned ski resort in Kashmir, as rainstorms battered the plains, according to officials.

According to them, the destination’s meadows were covered with roughly an inch of snow after the snowfall. The snowfall started early in the morning and lasted sporadically.

According to the officials, fresh snowfall was also observed in a number of other places in the upper parts of the valley, such as Gurez in the Bandipora district, Machil in Kupwara, Mughal Road in Shopian, and other places.

In the meantime, they added, rain fell in numerous plains areas, including Srinagar.

By the afternoon, the weather should improve, according to the meteorological agency.

The Met office predicts that November 17–23 will be largely dry, with the possibility of light rain or snow in a few isolated locations in the higher levels on November 24.

Rainfall fell across Kashmir’s plains, including Srinagar.

Winter conditions began as temperatures dropped sharply as a result of the rain and the first snowfall of the season in the higher levels.

The weather is expected to improve starting on Sunday, according to the Meteorological Department.

Dry weather is expected from November 17 to November 23, according to MeT officials.

Surface transit along the Zojila, Razdan Pass, Sadhna Pass, Sinthan Top, and Mughal Road has been temporarily disrupted by the recent snowfall.

MeT has encouraged travellers, hikers, and tourists to plan their trips.

Because of sleek roads and possible weather-related delays, authorities have advised caution when travelling at higher elevations.
