Teaser Trailer Reveals First Footage From Live-Action Remake

Although, Dean DeBlois’ film How to Train Your Dragon will be released by Universal next year. It has stars like Mason Thames, Nico Parker, and Gerard Butler.

Moreover, the feature, which is a shot-for-shot replica of DreamWorks Animation’s successful 2010 animated picture of the same name, is directed and written by Dean DeBlois and opens in theatres on June 13, 2025. Mason Thames plays Hiccup in the updated rendition, while Nico Parker plays Astrid. Murray McArthur, Harry Trevaldwyn, Ruth Codd, Bronwyn James, Nick Frost, Julian Dennison, Gabriel Howell, and Gerard Butler complete the ensemble.

The main character of the live-action How to Train Your Dragon is Hiccup (Thames), a teenage Viking who goes out to hunt dragons but ends up making friends with one named Toothless.

Hence, in the teaser, he addresses his father, Stoick the Vast (Butler, reprising his character from the animated series), saying, “Dad, I can’t kill dragons.” Hiccup’s father sternly replies, “But you will.”

The new project was written and directed by DeBlois, who has been a part of the series from its inception. It is based on the 2010 animated movie that he co-directed with Chris Sanders, which was influenced by Cressida Cowell’s book series. Adam Siegel, Marc Platt, and DeBlois are producers of the upcoming film.

The How to Train Your Dragon movie series has made over $1.6 billion at the box office worldwide and received four Oscar nominations. How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World, released in 2019, is the most recent of two sequels to the 2010 animated film. Three TV shows and five short films have also been produced.
